Logo: JZ
This was the result of my first foray into rubber block printing. I used carving tools to create a personal “logo” of my first and last initial on the rubber, covered it in ink, and pressed it on paper to build this pattern. I was fascinated by the way that no two prints looked the same. Rather than creating identical tiles, I chose to incorporate my two favorite colors in varying amounts as a representation of the different unreproducible aspects of my personality. It was liberating to embrace the chaotic aesthetic and work without striving for technical perfection. I now use the stamp and this logo as a signature for my art.
