The Favorite
This still-life oil painting was a study of my favorite food: a delicious burger from Char-Grill. With prominent brushstrokes, saturated colors, and an abstract background reminiscent of the wax paper that wrapped it, the burger suggests realism in some respects and stylization in others. I simply painted what I found most beautiful when I was hungry. Perhaps it’s ironic that I postponed addressing such an immediate desire in order to complete this painting, rendering the meal itself cold by the end.
